That's Haymarket, which I wouldn't exactly consider a farmer's market. You can get extremely cheap produce there, but it's loud and dirty, you don't really know where any of the food comes from, and much of it is nearing expiration.

I can't believe the California Farmers Markets aren't as good as Copley Square?! I always see the goat cheese man and I make myself not buy anything on purpose because I know that as soon as I give in it's all over. Maybe just a little taste would be ok though?

I absolutely love & miss the Copley Farmers Market...One of the few things I miss about Boston. I go to the farmers market at The Grove and it just doesn't compare. I'm going to check out Santa Monica's soon, I hear good things about it! I was going to suggest trying the goat cheese from Copley's. I love all the fresh produce, but I swear the goat cheese is the best I've ever had. Hope that you are doing well Erin :)

I bought a lot of thinks at my market as well - including summer turnip, onions, carrots, and zucchinis. I cut them into cubes, added whole garlic cloves, drizzled with EVOO, sprinkled with salt and fresh herbs (thym, oregano and basil), and I oven-roasted them. Yummy! It's more a winter dish as is, but it's a super delicious side dish and the leftovers are a great addition to any salad, sandwich or soup.

Jennifer - I actually grew up in a small town called Livermore Falls. What part of Maine are you from? It's good to hear that other Mainers are also fans of dousing random things with vinegar too.

What part of Maine are you from, Erin? I'm a Mainer living in Minnesota, and just had beet greens last night! MMMM... I had mine with just butter and salt and pepper last night (Mom's favorite way), but I'm also partial to beet greens with vinegar (Grammy's way)

I usually just roast my beets but pickling could be an intriguing change of pace. Thank you for the idea!

I actually haven't been to that particular one yet. I'm hoping to try to get to a new market each week for the rest of the summer. We'll see how that works out...
