I live in a suburb of Seattle. We have great food here. I second all the previous recs and add Sitka & Spruce. Tiny little place with a lot of great food!
Check out Seattle Times Living section. I'm a big fan of their food columnist Nacy Lesson. She's always trying great new places.
I hope you enjoy your visit and look forward to hearing about.
PS I literally stumbled on your blog today!

I have lived in Seattle for 7 years now - here are my suggestions:

Avoid Pikes Market. It's a tourist trap. If you do go, make reservations at a restaurant called "Matt's in the Market" for lunch.

Instead of Pikes, go see either the University District farmers market on Saturdays, or the Ballard Farmers market on Sundays. That will give you far more of an idea about what Seattle food is about.

As for restaurants:
Le Pichet - French bistro, great for lunch
Lark
Harvest Vine
Crush

I have lived in Seattle for almost 10 years and love the so many things about this city. Here are a few of my favorite stops:

Tilth my all time favorite restaurant. Really incredible, amazing food that's super sincere.

Molly Moon's Ice Cream has wonderful ice cream in flavors you won't find anywhere else. My favorite is the cardamom but the salted caramel is outstanding too.

Fun stuff to do that doesn't involve food? Well, I'd just the rental car and drive to Snoqualamie Falls It will only take about an hour to drive there from down town Seattle (east on I-90) and it will be a pretty drive at that. If you're into hiking, plan on hiking to the bottom of the falls for some really great views. When you're done, have lunch at the Salish Lodge or stay for a hot stone massage at their spa.

I have lots more suggestions too -- feel free to email me with questions if you have any. :-) I hope you have a fabulous trip!

I love Seattle! I moved from Boston to Portland, OR just about 3 years a go, and only made it to Seattle for the first time last year (says more about me than the city, I swear). Definitely check out the international district for unbelievable dim sum. OH and while you're in Pike's Place, the Piroshky's they sell at a little store on the strip are the only ones I've ever had that even come close to my Bubbe's. Then, of course, drink too much on Capitol Hill.

My brother moved to Seattle a year ago and I love visiting him! It's so beautiful there and the food culture is truly amazing. You must go to Pike's Place!

Lucky you! I've only been to Seattle once and loved it. When we move to Vancouver BC next year I hope to visit Seattle more often.

Near Pike's Place Market there is a great little asian pastry shop called Mee Sum Pastry -- it has delicious buns, perfect for a quick lunch or snack.

There's also an interesting bar/lounge called Chapel Bar - it's actually an old church converted into a bar. Gotta love it :-) The holy water stand now dispense matchbooks. It's completely sacrilegious but charming at the same time.

We did the tourist thing one day and took the underground city tour. I never realized that the current Seattle is built on top of the old Seattle. They take you underneath the city streets where you can see the old storefronts/sidewalks from the past. Interesting and slightly creepy.

I already gave you my two cents. I could also give you the drinking tour, or the "places I worked" tour... but I'm suspecting you might just be happier with what I already passed on.

LOVE seattle.. can't wait for you to go visit!!!
