What's great about the monkfish in Pike's Place is they have a string tied to the end of the tail, that goes through to the back of the display. The employees there will tug on it from time to time, startling people that are looking at it, taking pictures, etc...

Monkfish is about the least fishy fish out there. Plus it's firm so it holds up well to things like a stir fry.

Monk fish may be ugly but hot damn it's tasty. If you ever try it for the first time, have it in a good tomatoey stew, like a bouillabaisse. It's by far my favorite fish for soups and stews.

Liz is right! Monk fish is actually delicious if it is cooked correctly - which I think is pretty easy to do. I'm not sure that I would have the guts to buy a whole one though.

That thing is pretty intense looking. Somebody had to be the first to eat it and it must have been good enough for them to convince others to do so.

I also don't think they have teeth :)

Isn't Monk Fish known as the poor man's lobster? Done right, it is slightly sweet and succulent.

Most fishy foods I won't touch, much less think about occupying the same body of water, but Monk Fish is de-lish!

That is seriously creepy. My co-worker was just talking about the Seattle fish market about an hour ago. My first image was of David from the Real World. Glad there's someone else out there who gets that reference.
