Ok, I would be tempted to try this because of all of the possibilities for yummy, vegetarian fillings...mmmmm. And of course b/c they are adorable! Unfortunately, there's a gadget purchase moratorium in my house.

Until you get over your gadget resentment, try fresh pasta from Monica's Salumeria on Salem St (http://www.yelp.com/biz/monicas-salumeria-boston). They have a lot of fresh pastas and are really helpful with recipes, ideas, etc.

we have a pasta machine that I only use for making pierogis. every time I use it I think how awesome fresh pasta would be... but then I realize there's not enough crack in the world for me to take on that endeavor.

your raviolis came out so cute, though!

in terms of preventing hate, what about making a larger batch and freezing them so you can eat when the stress level has dissapated? granted this kills the notion of 'fresh' pasta... but it'll still be home-made and tasty?

I have the exact same ravioli mold and I was in the same sour mood by the time I was done making ravioli! Yours look great and if your experience was like mine, my hat goes off to you for seeing it through to the end. I also found underfilling them was a good thing to do as I had a number which burst during cooking....lol, it added to my mood: all that hard work filling them for nothing!

I loved this post. I'm much like you... a normal person who watches Lifetime movies all day in pj's (a rainy day is best), and on a whim I try things like homemade ravioli. I think I must get a ravioli maker. How cute is that? Of course I'll be oiling mine from the start :)

I too recently made homemade rav's after a long craving for them... although time consuming, they're so worth.

homemade pasta is definitely on my weekend agenda. but no gizmos, just a rolling pin and a fluted pastry cutter. just reading your story made me want to throw a pasta machine out a window, and i don't even HAVE a pasta machine.

the wee ravioli are super-cute in the end, though.
