Shopping With Erin

Cinnamon Chips - Woah. My mom gave me a package of these at Christmas time (essentially to get them out of the house I suspect). These tiny little morsels make a seriously tasty muffin addition. Apparently though they’re only available during the holidays and very hard to find. I’m actually a little frightened to use the rest of the bag, and I’m equally apprehensive to do any research on obtaining more for fear that what I’ve been told is true. Let’s hope it’s just a “vicious” rumor.

Amy’s Tomato Soup - Heaven can exist in a can. You think I’m kidding? Go buy one of these, make an ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwich and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. This is the best tomato soup (from a can) that I’ve ever tasted. There is no way I’ll ever buy any other convenience brand ever again. You wont be disappointed.

Quaker Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies - I bought these yesterday and just polished one off this morning. Honestly, I felt a little guilty the whole time because essentially it tasted like a chewy, moist, scrumptious chocolate and oatmeal treat. I’m not sure how a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie can actually be considered a breakfast item, but anything that encourages me to eat baked goods for breakfast can’t be wrong, right? The Quaker Oats man wouldn’t mislead us, would he?

Soup…Not a Stoup…

I find it fascinating that as much as I hate cutting and working with raw chicken breasts, I really enjoy making meatballs. Probably because it’s the one time that I actually enjoy getting messy and I have lots of good childhood memories of making meatballs with my mom. Although, since she dislikes touching raw meat as much as I do, I’m sure she was simply grateful that I was naive enough to think that rolling out all of those little balls was fun.  Anyway, I made Rachael Ray’s Double Chicken Dumpling Soup the other day. Sorry Rachael I refuse to use the term “stoup” — although I’m sure it will end up in the dictionary eventually. Fortunately, as odd as I sometimes find Rachael’s terminology, I truly loved the flavor of the nutmeg and Parmesan spiced chicken meatballs, especially when combined with one of my absolute favorite things in the whole world - potato gnocchi.  I’m a total sucker for a hearty soup so this will definitely make an appearance on my dinner table again.
