Note: This contest has now ended. Thank you all for entering! Kristin of Meringue Bakeshop just happened to be lucky #43. Congratulations Kristin!
Now that I’ve been getting my Farmers Market on a bit here in San Francisco I think it’s definitely time for me to make my annual attempt to can something. Three years ago I made strawberry jam that ended up being strawberry sauce. I blamed my lack of proper equipment because I had EXCELLENT personal tips and notes from my canning expert friend Marissa.
Then last year on a lark I went to H-Mart, bought literally a zillion jalapenos for something like $2 and decided I was going to make pepper jelly. This time I was prepared. Really prepared in fact as two separate family members had purchased canning kits for me at Christmas time. Thank you Gram & Amanda! The kit itself was fantastic. What wasn’t fantastic was my too small stock pot. You see, for some reason I thought it would be OK to read while I was stirring my boiling hot cauldron of peppers and sugar and was shocked beyond all belief when it proceeded to boil over everywhere. I scrubbed sticky green ectoplasm from the floor, stove, and counters forever. I did manage to save enough of my jelly though to can it and even though it totally slimed me I thought it turned out deliciously.
As an aside, all of this talk of canning has made the Can Can song from Moulin Rouge stuck in my head on a constant rotation. If you aren’t familiar then I’ll happily share the song-insanity with you.
This year it appears that Ball has updated their canning repertoire a bit with a number of new and reformulated products. Lindsay at 360 PR was kind enough to send a sample of these items along to me. I’m personally covered in the canning department and honestly as much as I’d like to hoard more awesome paraphernalia the small stature of the new apartment has made that an impossibility so I’d love to pass along the following awesome goodies to you:
1. Ball Home Canning Discovery Kit
2. Ball Blue Book
3. Fiesta Salsa Mix
4. Classic Pectin
5. Kosher Dill Pickle Mix
6. Ball Dissolvable Labels
7. Collapsible Funnel
8. Secure Grip Jar Lifter
9. More Classic Pectin & Fiesta Salsa Mix
Are you ready to test your luck at potentially winning all of these Ball products? If so, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post letting me know what you’d like to attempt to can over the summer.
In addition, If you share the link to this contest on your own blog, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ account etc… you may have one additional entry for a total of two possible chances to win. If you choose this option please leave a link to your shout out as your second comment. A winner will be selected via the nifty random number generator next Friday, July 22 at 5:00 PM PST and then I’ll promptly arrange to have the loot shipped to your home. Best of luck! Note: Sorry readers, but I can only ship this prize to those of you in the Continental US.

I’d love to make red pepper jelly this summer.
I plan on trying pressure canning for the first time this Summer. I am very comfortable with water bath canning, but need to move to pressure cooking so that I can put up veggies for the Winter.
I would love to can some italian flavored tomatoes. We buy so many canned tomatoes and I hear they are the worst things ever to buy in a aluminum can.
Oh my, this is an AWESOME giveaway!!!!! Woo hoo. I’d definitely start with jams — I’m a little scared of canning, and a kit and some jam would be the best way to ease myself into it! Although, it’ll be apple season before long, so perhaps some applesauce? Ooh, or peaches? Well, fruit for sure 🙂 (Can you tell I’m excited by the prospect?)
Strawberry Jam. That way I can remember the summer, when it gets cold up here in NY.
There are a couple of things I would like to try to make over the summer. Peach and raspberry preserves with brandy & cloves. Another is blackberry jam.
I’ve been dying to try canning jalapenos.
I’ve got a raspberry bush in my backyard that I didn’t even harvest last year. I’d love to try my hand at raspberry jam.
Strawberries. I would can strawberries. Anything and everything with strawberry in it. Strawberry jam. Strawberry syrup. Maybe even pickled strawberries. Who knows?!
I am kinda afraid of canning and so a kit would be really the thing I need to try this out. I think I’d start with jam, specifically I’d use a local berry called the Marionberry, it’s like hybrid between raspberries and blackberries.
I plan on making and canning some blueberry jam this summer and some apple-pumpkin butter towards the fall. I’ve never done it before but my sister and her friend do it every year and this year I’ve finagled my way into their tradition. I can’t wait!
I’d can tomatoes & make pickles! My first year with a real garden & evidently my husband bought me way too many tomato & cucumber plants. I will need to dabble in canning! *chuckle*
I would love to try canning cherry and blueberry jams this summer. GREAT GIVEAWAY!
Tomatoes! Our garden is already overflowing with them!
I shared this giveaway on my Facebook page.

Wow, I need this today!! It’s our local you-pick farm’s last day for the Summer season…tomatoes $5 per 5 gallon bucket. I need to do something with all these jalapeno peppers, too!!!
I want to try Homemade pickles… I remember my Grandma making them
I would also like to try canning tomato sauce
canning has always intimidated me
Spicy Green Beans – to enjoy year round in Bloody Marys!
I just made some blackberry jam and it turned out really great. I would love to have this package so I can try some other jams. I’m new to your site and I love it.
I’m another one afraid of canning! Living in high altitude means *everything* has to be adjusted, but after 30+ years here I’m pretty flexible (which is NOT the same as limber!). Anyhoo, we grow some of the most delicious corn and peaches here; I’d love to learn how to extend our “eatting season,” as our growing season is so short!
I want to make blackberry jam!!!!!
I’d love to make some blueberry ginger jam that I recently read about. Sounds perfect for an english muffin.
I just made Strawberry Lemon jam and it could have been a bit thicker. I was going to make marmalade and thought I would get tired of it before my last jar, so I zest the lemon peel instead of slicing it to get all the flavor but without the larger pieces. My first time in making jam and I could definately use any help I can get. Thanks for the giveaway!
Get OUT!! Dissolvable labels!!! I had no idea such a thing existed and I’m definitely getting some if I don’t win this. I have always wanted to learn to can, but always shy away from buying everything needed for it. I grew up spoiled with the bounty of freshness that came from my grandparents garden and so many tasty canned things. After both my grandparents were gone and the last of the canned tomatoes were used up I promised myself I’d learn to do this some day and regretted not having my nanny teach me. I’d probably start with jam and work my way up to canning tomatoes (which I’m also learning to grow!). Thanks for the give away!
I made dilly beans last summer, but went through them waaaaay to quickly, so I plan on canning a much larger batch this year!
I grew up eating canned fruits and veggies but had never learned to canned. I would like to try the pepper jelly. Sounds sooo good.
This stuff is all brilliant! My roommates and I have been wanting to make our own jams, and we started with Strawberry but had no way to preserve it! That was the most jam we had ever consumed that week!
I love canning. I made some wonderful peach jam last year. And when my baby sister got married we made strawberry and blueberry jam for wedding favors. Folks LOVED them.
I’d love this kit.
First…..Welcome to California!!
I make peach jelly and applesauce every year. Love it. I also send at least 5 jars each to my daughter in Somerville. She looks forward to it too, every year.
This kit looks like fun!
I would love to can tomato sauce.
I would love to can hot peppers!
Fig preserves. The tree this year is loaded with fruit and we’re just waiting for it to ripen.

My local CSA is letting people by “seconds” tomatoes by the bushel for canning! I’d give a try at tomato sauce and salsa – I go through so much salsa during the year it’d be great if I could have my own!
I’ve been wanting to try for awhile and not it seems possible!
I would can everything I could get my hands on. =D
I’ve always wanted to try canning but felt overwhelmed at starting out. THis would give me the nudge to get to it! 🙂
Peaches! My mom made the best canned peaches ever. We’d can for three days straight, peaches, applesauce, strawberry jam & pasta sauce. But her peaches were the best ever. I hope mine can be a close second!
Thank you
Julia
I really want to try to make purple hull pea jelly. My aunt says it is incredible and I have always to try canning. Thanks for the amazing giveaway, I would love to do this with my kids 🙂
Renee R
fattybumpkins at yahoo dot com
Id like to try canning pickles like my husbands aunt does! Her pickles are sooo good!
dilly beans!
I’m with you on the jalapeno jelly. We were picking peppers well into November last year and I kept saying I was going to make jelly but I never got with it and I ended up throwing out like 3 gallon sized ziplocs positively stuffed with them. But not this year… I’m actually going to do it!
I also think I’ll have a plethora of tomatoes. So maybe I’ll try those too…
wow! ben realllly wanting to try my hand at canning some pickles!!! this would be awsome!
First off – dissolvable labels??? That is amazeballs. Thank you Ball for that!!
We get like 2 weeks here in orange county when ollallieberries can be found at farm stands so i buy them up like crazy and then freeze them. i have a freezer full of them now and id love to mix them up with some strawberries to make jam.
Soup! I love to give them as gifts during the holiday!

I would make lots of homemade jam!
I would definitely make chunky strawberry jam!!
I, along with many others, am in the “canning” mode this summer. Thanks for the opportunity at a chance to win this wonderful treasure. Thanks for your site.
I would love to have a whole stash of jams, preserves, butters, tomatoes with basil, pickles and anything else I can shove in a jar! Love canning!
Jalapeno jelly, I love it!
I’ve been dying to learn to can. this would be absolutely perfect for me to learn!
I also just tweeted about it: http://twitter.com/#!/susank/status/93381880644243456
I have canned in the past under the supervision of other people, but never on my own. I agree, if you do any kind of farmers markets, grown your own, or pick your own, canning is a necessary skill!!
Can’t wait to see where your adventures take you this year!
I would love to attempt to make some crunchy dill pickles….I am new to canning (so far I’ve only attempted strawberry jam) and this discovery kit would just make my summer! Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!!!!
I want to make strawberry-kiwi jam, pepper jelly, and peach jam. I also want to can a large amount of crushed tomatoes:)
I’m hoping to can tomatoes, tomato sauce and salsa when our tomatoes are ready!
I would LOVE to attempt to can Beef Stew this summer 🙂
I’m a crazy dirty south canner! My faves from this summer so far are the strawberry balsamic pepper jam and “grandma” pickles. My big task for this summer is to try out heirloom tomato ketchup…and I want those big purply-black tomatoes!
I love to can. Last year I put up lots of spicy mixed veggies and I’d like to try jelly or jam (kind of afraid to try those… LOL) What an awesome giveaway!
Chow chow!
I’d just love to make peach pepper jelly, peach amaretto jam, candied jalapeno peppers and fig jam. But, alas, I don’t have canning supplies or refrigerator space!
OMG we are having a canning learning party next weekend! we are making pickled green beans!
My goal is to try a bunch of new (to me) eclectic jam flavors! I have a list. A list that is probably too long.
I would love to learn to can. I attempted a jam before but it ended up being too watery. I wish I had the right equipment as I am sure it would make my life a lot easier. I am wanting to try to grow my own garden on a new property I bought for my parents. We also have plum trees, apricots, and peaches so far that I can tell. So, it would be great to make jams etc and learn to can things like the good old days!
I am planning on conquering the pickle this year. Not that it should be hard… but it will be new to me as I’m usually a jam and jelly canner.
I would love to can Pickled Hot Peppers !!!
I am a newbie but would love to attempt pickled food this summer – bread and butter pickles for sure!!
I found you via Food in Jars. What a great giveaway! I love making jellies and jam.
My main goal every year is to try and make strawberry preserves. Alas, this year was like the others, I ended up with strawberry sauce. Great over cake and/or ice cream just not so nice on toast/biscuits. So, I saw a recipe for rhubarb pickle chips. I’d like to try and can those.
I really want to can lots of tomatoes and maybe some more pickles as well! (Basically anything that makes it from the garden to the kitchen without ending up in my mouth mid-journey. :P)
I will be doing tomatoes and hoping to teach my granddaughter to can. The equipment will be for her since I have my own.
http://erincooks.com/can-can-can/#comment-217148 Here is my link on my facebook page I posted.
YES!!!! I hope to can some yellow and green marinara this summer and more supplies are welcome!
https://www.facebook.com/joanpatterson1
I’ve already canned blueberries, cherries and pickle cucumbers, but I am waiting for a good batch of tomatoes to can some of those, too!
Don’t need the equipment but wanted you to know that I will be doing a shout out to my page. Should get quite a few people to your site. Hopefully you will link up to mine! Have a great summer!
I will def. make pickles and salsa verde! I would like to try some jams again this summer too…last jar is almost empty
I really want to can some cucumbers/pickles & sweet corn & tomatoes! I’m new to canning but am REALLY looking forward to becoming a canning proficient!!
I posted about the giveaway on my FB page. Not sure how to link it, will this work? http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/grandmachicken
I want to try and can tomatoes….anf blackberry preserves.
I have started canning this summer; so far have done jams, blackberry and a carrot cake jam which is so good. I have done 2 batches of salsa one using the pre-mix bag from ball and one other one. Would love to try spaghetti sauce and diced tomatoes for the fall, but I do not have a pressure canner YET, but getting closer with all the items I keep reading about others canning up.
I’d love to can my jalapenos again this summer, but summer isn’t coming here this year so neither are the peppers!
I’m hoping to can some rhubarb sauce, a few kinds of jam, and a retro-style corn relish.
Would love to pick peaches this year and can them. Have never done it.
I’ve gotten back into canning this summer! Several kinds of pickles (bread ‘n butter, Zingers, relish) so far; pickled beets on the slate for tonight! Upcoming: pickled jalapeno peppers and pickled watermelon rind 🙂
i would really love to can tomatoes. I buy so many canned tomatoes that i would love to cut that cost and have the satisfaction of eating something i canned myself!
I’d love to make some pickles – just like Grandma used to make!
I would love to make some jelly. Awesome give away!
This is a great giveaway!! Great great items! I’ll post this on my blog and my facebook! I would love to make some jalapeno and peach jam! I’m growing peppers and our peaches are just about ready 🙂
Oh Boy, Do I ever want to win this! I want to can tomatoes this year. You can never have enough on hand.
The list of things I would love to make is endless but some of my favorites would be corn salsa, jam, salsa, pickles, pickled onions and beans. I would love to win!
totally makes a huge difference having the proper tools. i am teaching myself to can this summer and due to my finances have to make do with what i have and it can be challenging at best.
I’ve only done strawberry jam so far this summer, but I’d like to can some pickles and tomatoes.
I want to make cherry pie filling.
Pickled Carrots!
Tomato sauce and pasta sauce. That and canned beans.
Pickled peaches!
I would love to can some little baby sweet pickles just like my grandma used to ad well as homemade strawberry pancake syrup!!
Shared on my facebook page under my name. I have no clue how to link it.
I will be canning tomatoes, green beans, and applesauce this year.
I’m very new to canning but I’d love to give jelly a try. Any kind. Pepper, peach… something good!
Plum jam. It was such a hit last year, and I can’t wait to do it again!
I’m planning to can some tomato sauce, salsa, and greenbeans this summer.
I always do tomatoes (sauce, salsa) and cucumber pickles. This year I would like to pickle some other veggies…
I would LOVE to win this kit. I am taking two canning classes in August. One will include canning peaches. I can hardly wait.
I have already canned hot garlic dill pickles, banana peppers, tomatoes, pepper jelly, squash relish, and mustard slaw.
i shared with my canning group https://www.facebook.com/groups/ATXhomecanners?ap=1
I have a bag of peaches that are going to turn into a peach gewurtztraminer jam in short order!
I just started gardening last year and I’m looking forward to canning some homemade marinara sauce.
Jams and pasta sauce… YUMMY
holy moly! what an awesome givaway! i’m hoping to can whole tomatoes and corn salsa for the first time this year! so exciting!
Just starting out ..this set would be awesome to win
I’m planning for…tomatoes, dilly beans, peaches, plum jam, blueberry jam, maybe some pickled beets, too? We’ll see what baby Eva wants to do!
I’d like to do up peaches!
I really want to can some tomatoes this year! I hate that all the canned tomatoes contain BPA.
I plan to can anything and everything that comes out of our gardens!
I did a lot last year, which was my first year, but I think that I want to try salsa this year. I did a few different types of tomatoes, but have never tried the salsas.
I’m hoping to can peaches this year!! and maybe some apples sauce. I would love to have some fresh fruit stowed away to warm up a cold winter day.
Enjoy canning and having a pantry full of all kinds of veggies and jams
i would love to try my hand at canning vegan pasta sauces and chili!
I know I’ll be making tomato sauce, but I’d also like to try some salsa and maybe some dilly beans.
I plan to make some apricot or peach jam as soon as possible and will be canning my San Marzanos as soon as they’re ripe!
I’ll be attempting to can chicken for the first time ever. I’ve already had the pleasure of beans, green beans, pickles, tomatoes and jams so this is a whole new chapter for me 🙂
This giveaway is fantastic, thanks for hosting it!
I have already canned fig/strawberry and fig/lime preserves but I really want to make the “dill stickels” my mom used to make, apple ginger butter in the fall and some pickeled green tomatoes like my neighbors wife made when I was a little girl.
love to try canning some raspberry jam or do some cherries!!
i shared.. not sure how to make that show up on my comment.. 🙂
I have tons of peppers. So hot pepper jelly!
I would love to start canning this summer and fall. My friend has an orchard and allows me to pick as much fruit as I like. I don’t abuse the priviledge and would very much like to can some fruit and apple butter. Up here in northern Michigan fruit and veggies are very expensive in the winter. What we do get comes from all over the world and usually not very high quality. I have helped friends can before, but I don’t have any equipment of my own. So, this would be a nice starter kit for me. Thank you for offering this to all of us.
Peace,
Some Old Hippie
I shared a link as well! http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?id=100000513604033
I really want to try to make Caramelized Onion Jam and Strawberries & Champagne Jam yummmmm 🙂
Zucchini relish! I can not wait!
I am looking forward to canning pickled beets, I so love them and my stock from last year is depleted.
I’m planning to start canning this summer. I would like to do small batches since we are empty nesters. It would be so great to have home-canned goods on my pantry shelves!
I was just browsing the net last night looking at canning recipes. I haven’t canned since I was a teen helping my aunt. I want to do some fruit butters. And then I seen this link on my Facebook page today, which is perfect timing. 🙂
I am thinking about making and canning Spaghetti sauce and more of my strawberry BBQ. So more to learn about home canning , this set would be so helpful!
I shared with my facebook group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/133751370035182?ap=1
I’m a sauce girl, so I really want to “can can” some of my favorites. I attempted two jars of my BBQ sauce last week, but I have some others in mind. Now that I’ve got my feet wet a little, I’m ready to dive in!
Canned 14 pints of peach preserves , 7 pints peach butter , 10 quarts tomatoes and 3 quarts pickled beets. Not bad for 3 days work. All vegetables were bought at our local flea market or local farmers market…
I will be tryin a new recipe for hot pickles!!! My step dad asked for these, he loves my regular pickles. IT’s time to try something new!!! Thanks for the chance to win!!
This will be my very first year canning – I’m going to attempt to make some black raspberry and strawberry jam – and spaghetti sauce- among other things! Yum! I could really use this stuff! 🙂
I would love to try canning some mint jelly!
I would love to can some peach jam this summer!
I want to make tomato jam and lots of salsa!
I want to can Apple Butter, but in small batches since I’m the only one that eats it.
Started canning again after about 20 yrs. Love the great taste of my own fresh fruit and veggies.Grocery store food just doesn’t compare to home canning.Getting my daughter in-laws into canning too.
I just stumbled onto your site and I love it!! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge! This is the first year that I have grown and had success with a garden. Im excited and cant wait till tomato harvest time! I plan to make salsa, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes and much much more. I don’t have any canning supplies except for 5 boxes of canning jars that a friend gave me….:) Thanks for the opportunity to win some supplies!
shared on my blog

Soo many things to can and such little time 🙂 I want to make a peach chipotle jam, jalapeno jam, ketchup and bbq sauce! I need to get cracking on it or its not going to happen again this summer. Maybe I will hit up the Farmers Market today and give the peach chipotle jam a try today…hmmmm
I have approximately a million green tomatoes on my tomato plants, and I’m pretty sure they’re all going to ripen on the same day, so I think I’m going to try to put some up for the winter.
I’ve done a few canning projects this summer…managed to put up some strawberry jam and peach butter! Would love to make more fruit butters and some pickles.
Apricots, peaches, blueberries, tomatoes- all the best from my garden and local orchards! I will try to do something a little funky with each, but stick the the basics befitting my newbie status.
We have our own garden, plus we’re a member of a CSA so we have lots of things to can this year. I love the Ball Blue Book. I have an older version and would love to see some of the newer recipes they have in there.
Oh, I am canning it all. Pickles, Jams, Salsa, green beans etc. Would love to win this.
I would like to can marinara sauce!
I would love to can corn cob jelly!

Posted to facebook:)
I would really love to get some sweet peppers canned this summer. Now, to find the perfect recipe! 🙂
Thanks to the online store for mailing my husbands birthday surprise for me in it’s original packaging, I know I’m getting canning supplies in a few days :). That being said, I am going to attempt canning for the first time ever, and will be quite happy to can ANYTHING successfully this summer. But I do have dilly beans on the brain!!
We have lots of prickly pear cactus around us, so I want to try some prickly pear jelly!
I’ll be making dilly beans with Asian long beans-yum! Also Wild Blackberry Plum jam from our own trees & bushes, perhaps some peach almond jam, peach chutney, applesauce with Meyer lemon, and whatever else shows up on our kitchen counters!
I would love to try canning some spicy things this summer.
Thai pickled carrots and Jalapenos are on my list!
I just posted a link to facebook under my Kim Inge profile! 🙂
Grandma’s Tomato Jelly
I love canning, i would love to make some tomato sauces, jams and jellies, pickles, and my husband and kids would love love love salsa. I love cooking so canning would be great to master, not to mention same money.
I would like to try to can peach pie filling. Just did strawberry jam and I’m inspired to try more!
My landlord’s daughter grew a zillion tomato plants from seed this spring, and since I have memories of canning with my mom when I was a child I suggested we try to figure it out and save the tomatos, instead of trashing all those plants! Now I’m afraid I’m in for it.
I love making homemade broths, especially chicken broth. I have worked at it and have become quite good at it now. Often I will bake a chicken, and then next day use the leftovers to make an awesome broth. Sometimes though, my family does not feel like eating hot chicken soup the next day, especially during the hot months. There are also lots of great recipes out there that are not soup, but call for chicken broth.
I would love to have the equipment to can my own chicken broth, and use it when more convenient instead of immediately following a chicken dinner.
I am also interested in canning everything else as well. I am novice, and would like to master this awesome canning stuff.
Would love to win…teaching my son and he needs all of this!
I grew up watching my mom and grandma can and now that my husband and I bought our 1st home (I finally have a good stove and counters pace), I can’t wait to start! I have a freezer full of homegrown berries – blackberry, raspberry, boysen, and tay just waiting to become jam. This kit would be fabulous!
I would like to can dill pickles this year.
I’m canning cherry jam and sweet pickle relish today. Would love to win your giveaway! And am posting it on my Facebook. 🙂
I just posted this link to my facebook page for Debra Howard.
I want to can a whole lot of tomatoes this summer. Great giveaway!
I belong to a produce co-op called Bountiful Baskets. I have been meaning to can for years and a little afraid. I am gonna bite the bullet and buy the cases of produce and jump into canning!
I’ve never canned ANYTHING! I can’t wait though & will first attempt some sort of a fig jam! Maybe fig/strawberry!
I would LOVE to win these things! I am fairly new to canning and still getting equipment, so this would be wonderful to win!!!
I’ve been wanting to try out canning…but don’t exactly know where to start. A kit would be awesome!
I shared on facebook!

Yesterday I canned Pickled Beets, my first this summer, I would like to do about 35 more pints of them. I will also be canning tomatoes, both juice and stewed. Fried Green Beans are a favorite at our home and that is on the list also. I have the summers off and my favorite thing to do is can~it is relaxing to me 🙂
I grew up canning with my mom. Now that I am a mom I am enjoying teaching my kids to can. They’re favorites are jam and pickles.
I am trying pickles for the first time in my life. I have tried zucchini sweet pickles, and some dill spears so far. I want to try some bread and butter and hmm….we’ll see whatever else I can find. lol
I look forward to pursuing some salsa, tomato juice, corn and also apple sauce is in my future.
I am so curious about the new Ball Home Discovery Kit, I want to try out that new way of canning without dragging out the big water bath tub. 🙂
Thanks for this opportunity.
I want to can sour pickles and pickled okra, along with tomato sauces and soups. I’m ready to win!!
Posting to my Facebook as well!!
Would love this little gem of a giveaway. Still some of my favorite memories of summer are canning with my Dad.
I would love to win, I am making dill pickles as we speak, and this morning I put up a batch of spaghetti sauce and yellow squash..in my near future are salsa and blackberry jam! Yum! Pick me!!
I will be canning greenbeans, peach jam, peas, and what ever else comes my way.
I plan on canning farm fresh chicken this fall!!
I’ve done the jams and jellies, want to try spicy pickles and some relishes & sauces!
I’ve already canned 15 jars of new potatoes and 25 jars of strawberry-fig jam. Now I’m ready to can pickled peppers and pear preserves and maybe some watermelon rind preserves!
I spread the love and the link

This is a great opportunity, thank you! I found a recipe today for making jelly from the flowers of Queen Anne’s Lace, and am quite excited to try it! <3
Planning to experiment with my mother-in-law and use one of her old recipes to make spicy pickles.
I will be jamming with the pluots this week!
Raspberry jam!
Plums! Tomatoes! Eventually stews and soups
Jelly. My jams turn out great, never my jelly!
I shared this on my facebook page, but have no idea how to show it here. I am Sissy Sylvester on facebook.
We just got our free produce vouchers to buy Jersey fresh produce so I’m ready to do peaches. I do sugar free preserves, pie filling and just plain peaches…I did pickled beets a couple of years ago and I want to do those again..Evelyn Dalton in Texas is my sister so I got this site from Face Book…I will post it also.
I can anything I can get my hands on. I am really looking forward to finding a good chow chow recipe to can.
[email protected]
So far I have a few pints each of strawberry, apricot, and gooseberry jam, a bottle each of raspberry syrup and vinegar, and some current jelly. I plan on using the wild plums and grapes on our property for juice and preserves. We also have a couple of apple trees so I will be making applesauce and drying apples to chop into homemade instant apple and cinnamon oatmeal for the kids before school this winter. If my tomatoes ripen nicely (and with this heat, I have hope!) I will be canning a lot of roma tomatoes.
If the garden produces I want to pickle some peppers.
canned chicken is the best.
Pickled okra, snap pea pods, and maybe some peaches or apricots….
Hi! I am really looking forward to making pickles, pickeled jalapenos, jalapeno jelly, peach jam, and apple butter! OH and raspberry jam too!
i’m getting overwhelmed with my csa, so this would be perfect timing 🙂 pickles and jam here i come!!
Every year I get closer to my goal of being as awesome at home-crafts as my mother. My speciality is apple butter, cooked for over a day in the crock pot with spices and then jarred. (Fruit butters are easier for me than jellies–you don’t have to worry about them not setting!) My favorite, though, is my mother’s recipe for putting up peaches. Opening a jar is like finding a surprise summer day in the middle of February.
Hi! I’ve got about 20 pounds of onions that are waiting for me. I just haven’t been inspired yet. I hope I get inspired soon! 🙂

Now I have little beans growing and huge tomatoes. Would love to put those up for those cold winter nights when you want yummy comfort food.
I just ordered a 20lb box of peaches from Bountiful baskets so this weekend I am planning on some jamming with my grandkids.
So far I have canned dilly beans, zucchini pickles, dill pickles, hot sauce, strawberry jam and vanilla rhubarb jam. Next up is cucumber relish.

I love to can. I wish I had something to can everyday. This summer I would like to try baked beans and recipes with meat. Like, stew and soups. It’s lots of work but so worth it after it comes out of the canner.
I love canning!! Matter fact, I have pickles make’n as I type!!!! The garden is just coming on and I am ready!!! Oh and last but not least, SB Canning sent me!

OH I would love to win this! I just started canning this past month and am loving it!! Having all this stuff would just make me giddy 🙂
I’m watching my yard- blackberries, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers. Whatever is ripe first is next. (It’s pretty close between the tomatoes and blackberries right now.)
Sad to say, but I’ve never made salsa! Would love to try it this summer!
I think I am going to have a plethora of tomatoes, so that is the next item in my summer canning plan.
I shared this link on my profile on Facebook… It is a private profile though so I don’t know if you will be able to see it or not… but I promise I did post it.

We just finished canning Apricots (and drying them) but the tree hasn’t given up yet so apricot jam may be next.
I am just starting to learn how to can. I am planning on making squash pickles soon. So far my blueberry lime and spiced peach jams have been a success!
I want to can peaches! And sweet pickles!
Just started canning recently. Planning on canning some apples next.
My son and I have made Strawberry-Banana Freezer Jam and quick refrigerator pickles AND pickled beans but we didn’t really can them. We’d love to have the stuff to learn how to can. What a summer project!
Next on my list is apple butter and apple sauce. Have a tree full of apples ready to be picked.
Second entry for pimping out your contest. 😉
green tomato pickles
I used to can years ago and would love to try making pickles this year.
I always get way too many green beans from my CSA, so this year I’d like to try canning some of those so they don’t go to waste
dilly beans are so good and a great way to use them up
I am going to try 3 bean salad and a 2nd attempt at canning veggies in the pressure canner.
would love to can tomatoes- also maybe a pumpkin pie filling that would be great.
Oh, this Summer, I’ve got big plans for my canners.
We’ll be putting up pickles (sweet, sour, chutneys), kraut (including turnip kraut).
The pressure canner will get a work out with chicken, rabbit, carrots, green beans, corn, and anything else I can stuff into a jar before it runs away from me.
I will be trying sweet banana pepper rings and pickled okra.
I want to try to can dilly beans & pickled tomatoes, as well as apple butter & apple jams…
I’ll make some cherry amaretto jam and dilly beans, for sure, and whatever else comes my way!
We’re taking advantage of our neighbors peach tree and our own pear tree and want to can fruit for cobblers, breads, muffins, jam, etc. We’re not experts by any means, but are looking forward to having fun with it!
I would really like to make some salsa and can it. I also want to can tomatoes, and any other fruit and/or vegetables I can get my hands on.
SB Canning suggested that I check out your page !!!

I’m hoping to can some Vidalia Onion relish. SB Canning sent me!
For my first canning, I’m trying for peach preserves. Excited!
My husband and I put in a good size garden. We experienced canning 114 pints of green beans. The rest of the garden is doing great also. We have three daughters that would like to learn to can. It is hard to get everyone together since they all have school age children and no one lives in the same town and two of them different states than I. I would like to give them a quick lesson when we visit and leave them something to ponder. Any of the gifts would be great. I would really like to give them the Discovery Kit or the Cook Book.
I’m a beginning canner and want to make tomato sauce this year with all the tomatoes that I’m growing in my garden…
Strawberry and raspberry jam.
This is my first summer canning, ever, in my whole life! And I’m old!!! The first thing I did was wild grape jelly. It actually tastes wonderful and it jelled! The success went to my head! The next thing I tried was strawberry jam, didn’t follow the recipe, exactly and three tries later, I have strawberry jam.
Moral of this story, even old cooks need to follow good directions!
I am going to try canning pasta sauce for the first time this year. 🙂
I cannot wait for the peaches! I am going to can tons and make preserves and marmalade and jelly and any other concoction I can come up with! I can’t quite figure out the link to the post itself where I shared, but here is the link to my profile where it shows! Good luck to all!
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1571803865
I’m hoping we have a lot of pears again this summer. I canned some a couple of years ago, but last year our tree didn’t produce. They sure were good while they lasted.
Strawberry Jam! Oh my, I bought some packages of pectin, some small jars and a few boxes of strawberries, thinking this would be a good activity for me and the toddlers. Ha ha! What’s that they say about ignorance? I still intend to can, but am now kind of concerned that I need 8 arms to do it well. This kit should be just the ticket!
I have been gardening in pots but shopping at my local farmers market & this will be my first summer canning. I am very excited to try it since I am on a restricted all natural diet thanks to my surgeries & Dr’s orders. Canning will ensure fresh non tainted foods all winter long. I am looking forward to the rewarding experience & wonderful tips from my canning pro friends.
Have not canned in years, but just finished with 25 half pints of beautiful peach preserves and 6 pints of pickled okra. Tomorrow will can salsa and and blue berry jam! I would love to have a new canning kit! Really enjoyed my day!
I have been a participant of non-profit orginazitaion bountiful baskets that as a co=op brings fresh produce in to our area. I am so excited with all they offer and Like you I HAVE NEVER CANNED and well now I”ve got the bug… I want to do green beans and tomato’s.. yummy.. so in order to cure this bug I have to go out and get all my supplies… so thanks for the post and the contest…
I just made pickled garlic for the first time, with the garlic I grew myself. I have Roma tomatoes in the garden that I want to learn to can too. It’s very exciting! Green beans too. I’m wanting to learn to use a pressure cooker to can.
Have a great summer!
dilly beans, peaches, asian pears, salsa, blackberry pie filling. I love to see the jars line up on the shelf.
I want to make some blueberry jam real soon And then maybe some tomatoes. I’m still a beginner but it’s so fun!
My sister sent me a recipe for Jalapeno Jelly that I can’t wait to try, and I’m pretty sure that I don’t have everything necessary just yet. That prize would get me there, as well as opening up untold possibilities.
I am going to pickle tomatillos!!! They are delicious all year!
I’m hoping to can strawberry jam, apricot jam, and tomato sauce.
a sweet hot dog relish….so delish.
I am growing my own vegetables now and canning them. I think with what is out there in the markets now, we should all know what we are eating! Today I made, for the first time, blueberry syrup. Yum! That will be great in the winter! Next I want to try beets with orange.
I would really like to win the prize so here is my second “ticket” to win! (Hope I am posting it correctly!)
http://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ferincooks.com%2Fcan-can-can%2F&t=An+Erin+Cooks+Giveaway%3A+You+Can+Can+Can
I learned to can this summer and had a successful first canning event under the tutlege (sp?) of my husband’s Other Mother (long story). We made strawberry jam, which is not my favorite jam, but now has a special place in my heart as my first canning project. I’m a convert. I thought canning would be hard. Now I can’t wait to get my own supplies! Gooseberry jam next year, for SURE!
And I just tweeted the contes post via @trueepicure Thanks for offering up the prize and the multiple chances to win!
homemade elderberry cough syrup!
Blueberry-peach jam is next up – I hope. Then, many, many jars of tomato sauce. I’m new-ish to canning, so my ambitious may be too high.
Salsa, Taco Sauce, corn, beans
I want to make everything! I bought the blue ball book of canning and want to make fig preserves and I want to make sweet pickles!! Pick me! 🙂 what a great give away!
Not sure how to add a link but I’m going to put this on my Facebook! 🙂
I have already canned quite a few things with the produce that I am getting from my community garden plot, but I am really looking forward to the tomatoes from the 20 Roma plants that I grew from seed this year!
Hopefully this link to the shout out on Facebook worked:

My MIL, sister’s and I are canning this weekend! I have never done it before and am looking so forward to it!
Here is my FB post:) http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1367765764
I canned some tomato sauce last weekend. Next weekend will be jam – whatever’s available at the farmers market!
Tomatoes – whole, diced, pureed, salsa, marinara! I planted 6 “extremely productive” plants this year, so that I would HAVE to can them. Good plan? We’ll see…
I am going to can some apricot jam, plum jam (and jelly), hot pepper jam. And apple butter, corn cob jelly and pickled watermelon rind. Ooh, and some pumpkin butter, tomato jam, kumquat marmalade. Lemon jelly, spicy cranberry relish. The question is, really, what am I NOT going to try to can?
I want to can anything I can get my hands on this summer, I’ve actually been wanting to get one of those canning kits.
I want to can some pickled beets and some pickled carrots. Have a bunch of them in the garden and would love to pickle them;
I am looking forward to canning tomatoes this summer.
lemon blueberry ginger jelly – yum.
I want to can some tasty salad dressings this summer. I have raspberry and blackberry vinegars brewing and will be collecting the herbs through the summer.
I just got a pressure canner so I would like to do some green beans and maybe some lentil soup. Also have peaches, tomatoes, salsa and maybe BBQ sauce on the list. And finally, a batch of root beer, which will probably be bottled, not canned. Thanks for the great ideas! I’m reposting on facebook.
I’m dying to make pickles this year.
(I think strawberry jam is hard because of water/sugar content.)
I posted it on Facebook!
I can’t wait until I can start canning my tomatoes and cucumbers. I love to can!!
I have hotwater bath tomatoes..just a small amount but ready to give jam and jelly a try, also going to give veggies a try …
My fingers and toes are crossed to win. I really want to get started in canning!
I’d love to make salsa!
I would love to start canning. I have a garden with all the stuff to make fresh salsa and would love to try and can that or even maybe some homemade jam .
We planted a garden this year. I would love to can my tomato’s. Maybe find a awesome salsa recipe to can.
I just got home from vacation and took with me Blueberry, Strawberry & Blueberry Pineapple jam I had done a few weeks ago. This is a great BLOG!

I am looking forward to making bread&butter pickles (first attempt was mushy) and a second attempt at marmalade (first was like a rock).

I would like to can some hot peppers we have growing in abundance in our garden!
ooo i’m excited to try some hot Korean pepper jelly, great idea! my 1st canning venture was strawberry jam, just last month: http://craftinessnow.blogspot.com/2011/06/jammin.html

http://craftinessnow.blogspot.com/2010/02/2nd-christmas-late-valentines-and-other.html
I’ve already been canning raspberry and strawberry jam and I am in need of more canning supplies. I am planning to can EVERYTHING this summer and really make an effort not to waste anything that I am growing this season .
I want to can lots of plums and apricots in light syrup! They are so good over yogurt and ice cream!
I’d like to do some peach pie and apple pie fillings. yummmmmmmmy!
I’d also like to try salsa, but i’ve had such bad luck with tomatoes this year, i don’t think it will happen.
I would love to try to can some peach jam or jelly and maybe some applesauce in the fall!
I just tweeted your giveaway!
http://twitter.com/#!/doughgirlbakes/status/94055402488074240
So much to can this summer. My first times will be grape juice with grapes from our garden. Also fig jam, Jalapeno’s (today), okra, blueberry pie filling and some pasta sauce.
Did a post about the give away on my facebook page but can’t figure out how to link it so I also did a post on my personal blog. Blog address was left on the website information when entering the contest.
What a fun and unique giveaway! I would have to start with strawberry or peach jam for sure!
Assuming that I get a similar amount of tomatoes from my CSA this year (for about a month last summer it was almost 10 lbs a week) I want to can either some tomato sauce or some salsa.
I’d love to can my own salsa…cha, cha,cha 🙂
I would love to have this set! This is awesome!
I have canned a few things but still need to do lots more.
I can’t wait to make salsa with my garden tomatoes this summer!
I would love to can some pickled okra this year! Thank you for offering this gift package.
I’m hoping to can spaghetti sauce. I have 10 plants but so far, no red ones and I’m very sad 🙁 I also found an awesome recipe for pineapple salsa for the canner that I want to try. All of these tomato recipes are very dependent on my very stubborn plants.
I’m new to canning and will be trying it for the first time this weekend. I’ll be canning peaches, cross your fingers that they turn out 🙂 I also hope to can some pickles and make some jelly’s this summer
Looks like I might get enough figs this year to do something with!
http://twitter.com/#!/syscok1d

I used to make raspberry jam. It was delicious! I know longer live in a place with a grove of raspberry bushes. I miss them. I do want to try making dill pickles. I have always been afraid of trying but I WILL try!
I would love to try canning salsa this year.
I shared the giveaway on twitter.
#win Ball Home Canning Products @girlieerin erincooks.com/can-can-can/
I just started canning myself and like you I realized that I definitely need proper equipment! This would be perfect! AND since I have 30, yes 30 tomato plants I think that I will be canning some tomatoes this year!
The harvest season is just beginning here in Minnesota.
I will can pepperoncinis this year since I accidentally bought those instead of Serrano pepper plants! Oooops!
I’m venturing out of the world of jams and going to attempt to make peach salsa. Today actually! 🙂
I’m working on a good recipe for fig jam, living where they grow beautifully, I don’t want to waste any of them!!
made lots of hot pepper jam for the teenagers who house/dog sit for me.
they request it! working on peach & plum butters right now – in the crockpots & will can tonight. want to start canning soups.
Have been wanting to try pepper jelly–maybe soon–but I’ll remember not to read at the same time.
Blackberry jam (might as well make use of what so many folks around me consider a pest plant!). Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (for food storage-I’m tired of paying too much for little, over salted cans of cooked chicken chunks!)
This year we have canned tons already, but I’d like to try canning beets and possible some beef stew base in the fall.
I am about to be inundated with fresh figs courtesy of the trees in my backyard and am desperate to try my hand at homemade fig newtons. I also want to make fig spread for sandwiches, and glazed figs! I’m also going to have squash, beans, and tomatoes coming in all at once and want to save some of my modest bounty for the fall! Unfortunately, my fiancee is leery of the idea of me canning and we’re on a rather tight budget, so it will take an intervention (divine, perhaps) like winning a canning kit to make this dream come true!
I’d like to try to can some preserves. Peach, blueberry, maybe blackberry. I might try some pickles too. I am also experimenting with salsa.
Yep, we are going to can ’til the cows come home this year.
Ahhh canning/jarring is on my Summer Bucket List! I would looove to win this, as I keep passing by all these things at walmart while looking at them longingly but never having the extra cash
I want to try my hand at canning brandied peaches this year.
I have a huge list of canning I’d love to do! I would love to do some jalapeno jelly and some margarita jelly! The Good Housekeeping Canning magazine has some wonderful recipes to try out also! I’ve made the Roasted Tomato Garlic Sauce and am using that pretty quick, but I’m not able to get ahold of any pickling cucumbers this year and that magazine has a recipe for Zucchini Pickles, now I’m able to get ahold of a lot of those! So, here’s hoping those taste great! Can’t wait to try them out!!! Thanks for the opportunity!
If I win I will can cherry jam. If I don’t, I’ll make cherry freezer jam.
sb canning sent me. I would like to do this with my girls. I remember my grandma and aunt canning. It will help give my girls memories of our relatives that have passed.
oh man, I would love to make some strawberry jam!
So who won the contest.. my readers would like to know
