14 Fancy Foodie Nail Polish Names I Love

in Miscellaneous, To Buy / To Try

I know that a lot of people (myself definitely included) love reading the names of cosmetics and get a kick out of the clever tuns of phrase that are stenciled onto various lipsticks, blush compacts, and eye shadows.  I’ve also noticed that when it comes to my manicure and pedicure addiction the choice of polish is definitely swayed by what the color is called. For instance, I spent multiple months two winters ago alternating between OPI’s Black Cherry Chutney and Mrs. O’ Leary’s BBQ simply because the names sounded delicious. It helped that each of these colors was dark and suitably moody but they also received huge bonus points for having cute food related names.

Dim Sum Plum is yet another favorite polish option, at least for my toes, but my current spa doesn’t seem to carry the color and I can’t get it together enough to remember to buy myself a bottle so we haven’t been “friends” for at least a year now. In the meantime, last Friday I stumbled across a color called “I Eat Mainely Lobster” and fell in love with the adorableness of the title, but definitely hesitated a bit about the actual color. It’s sort of a pinky-peachy-orange shade, not my typical style really, but since it name dropped my home state, as well as the equally famous seafood commodity she’s known for I felt compelled to give it a try. And I loved it! It has a very “cha-cha-cha” look and I’m already planning to select the same color next Friday when I go back for a pre-vacation mani-pedi for my upcoming trip back east.

So then I started to wonder…just how many OPI colors reference food? The answer? A lot! Some are pretty basic and expected like Strawberry Margarita but there are also a slew of colors with seriously inventive names. Not all of the below are necessarily colors I’d actually wear (for instance I don’t care for anything blue or green at all), but I think you’ll have to agree that they certainly are memorable. Which foodie friendly polishes do you like to paint with?

1. Ate Berries in the Canaries

2. Black Cherry Chutney

3. Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs.

How cute! When I saw the headline, I thought maybe you started a new blog: ErinBeaute!

Ha! That would be the day. When I put on eyeliner I do it like a 4 year old. I think it’s best if I stay very far away from any kind of real beauty blogging 😉

Haha! Adorable. I love OPI but can only afford it once in a blue moon. My fave is Caffeine fix out of all the colors–kind of food-ish I guess 🙂
