Note: This contest is now closed. Congratulations to Ashley (lucky number 15) who reported that Kate is allergic to horses. Hopefully she remembers her Claritin at the next Polo Match.

Princess Kate cookies! OMG. Have you guys seen these? I was the lucky recipient of a very special, limited edition tin filled with an assortment of delicious Walkers award-winning shortbread cookies last week. I’ve become a Royal Wedding fanatic over the past few months so I’m beyond in love with this great keepsake. I also desperately need a tall glass of cold milk after sampling all of the terrific cookie flavors packed inside this pretty box including the classic buttery original recipe in various dainty shapes, chocolate chip, and butterscotch. By the way, the original are by far my favorite. Somehow they manage to be crisp yet light, buttery but not heavy — obviously they’re magical cookies.

A tin of these treats would be the perfect early morning accompaniment to your Royal Wedding viewing this Friday. I was originally hoping to break out the bubbly but 4:00 AM seems like a rough hour to toast Wills and Kate on their union. Cookies and a spot of tea seem much more civilized.

You can purchase the cookies online at the Walkers website or, for all of my fellow (possibly closeted) Royal Wedding aficionados, I’d like to offer you the chance to win a Royal Wedding Tin of your very own. Simply leave a comment on this post detailing something you’ve learned about Kate Middleton over the past few months or your favorite (perhaps even most absurd) Royal Wedding souvenir you’ve seen online or in the news. I’ll pick a winner via the nifty random number generator at 5:00 PM EST on Friday, April 29th (you know what that day is!) and then I’ll promptly have a tin shipped to your home. Good Luck!

PS: My fake Princess Diana ring featured in this post is unfortunately not included in your tin. That classic piece of kitsch is mine-all-mine.

in the newspaper a few weeks ago i saw an add for a creepily realistic looking kate middleton doll that said it would be shipped after the wedding with a detailed replica of her dress.

I was reading the Daily Beast the other day, and they had a spectacular article pitting Queen Elizabeth II against Kate Middleton in a head-topper battle: who wore what hat better? It was pretty funny. I also learned that the future Princess really digs Philip Treacy for her headgear.

What a yummy looking tin – in more ways than one! So I guess one of my favorite bits of Kate trivia is that her sweet tooth has inspired a new package of gummis by Haribo –

I am not good with the Kate factoids, BUT — what I can do is encourage you to check out the King Arthur Flour blog: sometime within the past month they did a post with a recipe of their guess at what the royal wedding cake might be. It involves McVities and lots of chocolate, which sounds fit for royalty to me!

Let’s see, I’ve learned that her face can appear on random food items such as jelly beans. Maybe she’ll appear on these cookies!

The wax figure of Prince William, complete with attached ring, that allows you to slip your arm thru his waxy one and slip your finger into the ring in order to mimic the engagement pose seems pretty out there. It’s amazing how out of control this all seems to be getting…but I must admit that I love it. It’s history!

1st of all I love WALKER’S shortbread cookies. Every time we visited our friends over the pond they use to serve them with tea.

I learned that Kate Middleton is related to Prince William. They are 12th cousins, once removed. The Daily Mail reported, “The common ancestor who links the two lovers is a murderous despot whose bloody deeds have been deliberately forgotten by history.” The dictator, Sir Thomas Leighton, died in 1610 and was William’s 12th generation great-grandparent and Kate’s 11th.
She is also related to George Washington.

I learned in my people mag that Kate uses the same shampoo that I do.. the expensive but well worth it kerastase brand. I adore Walkers shortbread with Tea.. I always buy single servings at TJ Max.

I am very excited about this wedding. I watched every second of Will’s parents wedding with the same excitement. I don’t know a lot about Kate. She is lovely and I wish this sweet couple the very best!

Super disappointed about the kitschy ring not being a part of the giveaway but the shortbread would be a delightful gift! 🙂

Kindly, Lorraine

I don’t have anything to add about Kate Middleton, but my parents lived in England when Charles and Diana got married. They have some pretty cool memorabilia. The one I remember the most is a tea towel with their faces on it.

Yum shortbread!

I love the wedding souvenir that features Harry – not Wills!
As for Kate, I was at St. Andrews at the same time so I’ve probably seen her at some point. I never saw Will though… boo!

I recently learned that replicas of her gorgeous blue engagement dress sold off the racks of British clothing stores in under an hour!! The dress was a perfect match for Diana’s lovely sapphire ring.

My favorite Kate & William souvenir was given to me as a birthday present by a friend who knows I am an obsessive Royalty follower, and a knitter who loves to knit weird and wonderful things, my favorite being a glow in the dark pink uterus with pose-able fallopian tubes.. But I digress…

Back to Kate & William. I was given a book with patterns to knit the entire Royal Family, along with guards, the Queen’s corgi’s, and it is simply hysterical. It has hats and purses for the Queen and Kate’s mother, and medals for all the guy’s in uniforms.. Best present ever!

But cookies are good too…

Ooh yumm! I’d have to say the ring is my fave souvenir! Even though I have one (definitely costume jewelry I’m pretty sure) that looks veeerry similar to it that my grandpa gave me for Christmas when I was 10. I still have it, but it doesn’t fit my fingers 🙁

Well, I have to admit that Barbara’s knitting patterns were the very best souvenier I’ve heard of, but next to that was a plate that someone in the UK was holding in a picture on CNN last week. It depicted Will and Kate ala “American Gothic”. Sort of creepy.

Walkers Shortbread has a really deep connection to me and my daughter! When I went to get her in Ethiopia 3 yrs. ago, she understandably was totally terrified and was a professional at the rigid-back-screaming-like-a-banshee type of tantrums. Needless to say, the flight was 26 hours. Only after hour 11 did I discover that she also LOVED shortbread! A very nice lady (that I’m sure did not want to be insane by the time we landed in Boston) from London donated a tin to me and I stuffed my darling’s little face the whole way. 🙂 Thankfully, now she is fine, happy, and not screming anymore. She’d love to win the tin of cookies! Thanks for the chance to win it.

Kate has invited the family butcher to her wedding. There has been a very long line of unlucky Katherine’s in the castle. Let’s hope this one fares better.

i too was impressed that she invited the family butcher to the wedding. also that she did not “tell tales” when she and william broke up. Both of which show a touch of class at least IMHO.

I go through coupons every sunday and one of the flyers in there had a mail order doll that looked nothing like her. I think that offical coin looked worse but I still think a doll is creepy

I’m finding your enthusiasm for all of this adorable. I must admit I also love walkers shortbread. My father used to bring a lot of it back when traveling abroad so even though it’s now widely available stateside I still enjoy it very much.

I tried to order the tin and the Walker’s Scotland site will not ship to the US and the US site does not have the tin offered on it!! I am not going to pay the e-bay prices!! So……..any help would be appreciated. My Kate Fact that I recently learned is that she thought she was not as pretty or popular as Pippa and that her brother likes to cross dress (I don’t know if this is fact or if he did it once for fun and the tabloids jumped on it)

I am very excited that William & Kate are getting married on the 29th. My husband and I were married 16 years ago on that date.
I did find out she is an accomplished tennis player. She has been to Wimbledon with her mother Carole frequently.

Love the shortbread!
I learned that she is the first lady marrying into the Royal family with a college degree or that lived with her husband to be before hand. Also, Prince William will have a bullett man to catch any bulletts that may come his way though Kate is on her own to dodge her own bulletts! She also likes to hunt and fish like the Royals do, unlike Lady Diana.

I learned that she oddly has the same sense of style that Princess Di had, even though they never met. I was watching 20/20 and they showed numerous pictures of the two side by side, in almost identical clothing, even hats and accessories were almost identical, it was kind of cool!

Well, I’ve seen a little book supposed to teach you how to hook a prince (not many more around, uh? LOL). 10 rules to follow in order to marry one. One rule dealt with practicing posh sports like tennis LOL.
