Cheating in the Kitchen with My Vegetable Chopper

When I have to make recipes that require a whole lot of the above to be chopped into uniform bits I have to confess, I pull out my vegetable chopper. I know it’s a tool that is looked down on by many, but I absolutely adore this silly gadget. CK’s grandmother actually gave me my first one years ago which I used and used until I broke it. Note to self: don’t try to impatiently dice large chunks of potatoes when you’re in a grumpy mood.  After that mistake I replaced it with this version from Williams-Sonoma. It’s a tad fancier than my orignal chopper as it boasts four different styles: a large dice, a small dice, a slice, and a mince.

If you don’t own one of these genius little time savers then I’d encourage you to give it a try. If you’re embarrassed that someone will find out you’ve been cheating on your fancy chef’s knives with this slick contraption rest assured. No one has to know. What goes down in the kitchen, stays in the kitchen. Especially if you quickly pop this little guy in the top rack of the dishwasher before everyone gets home.

Do you have any “secret” kitchen gadgets that you care to confess to owning and loving? Garlic presses? Avocado slicers? Don’t leave me hanging.
