Look What I Found On My Doorstep
My Boston Organics order was waiting for me when I got home from work. I was looking forward to it all day. When I opened the bright green box I found the following items inside: Bananas, Green Bartlett Pears, Honey Tangerines, a Kent Mango, Pink Lady Apples, Plums, Valencia Oranges, Fingerling Potatoes, Romaine Lettuce, Snow Peas, Sweet Onions, and Zucchini. So far I’ve used one zucchini to make a pasta dish for dinner. What should I do with the rest of my bounty? Suggestions are welcome. I’m really looking forward to eating that Mango tomorrow evening. I can’t wait to see what I’ll get next week!

Guess now it’s time to go into quickfire mode, right? Congrats on the bounty, Ms. Erin!

we go to farmer’s markets from time to time, or to organic food stores, but I think you are luckier to receive the goodies on your doorstep:) Oh, for zucchini, an idea - slice it, pat with some flour, sprinkle with olive oil, bake in the oven until lightly golden. remove, add some plain yogurt, crushed garlic, salt and pepper - and you have that healthy salad to enjoy! I will post the recipe with pictures sometime on my blog.

That’s awesome! I love Kent mangos. They were one of the best rated at the mango festival tasting I went to last year.

Looks beautiful! And summery, too, doesn’t it? The pears..someone in the last few days posted a pear muffin on Tastespotting that looked really good. Found it–

Or you could do an apple-pear-plum crisp or cobbler, juice some of the tangerines and oranges for drinking, and use the zest in other things. Do you freeze zest? I do, so I always have some on hand.
Rambling, hehe…

Lucky you. I know they do this in my area and when I find out where to sign up, I’m on. My challange will be not to waste anything.

Ooh, it’s like Christmas!
I love roasting fingerling potatoes with a little olive oil, kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper and rosemary. Have fun eating the mango; my mouth is watering thinking about that!

Wow Erin! I am so jealous.
Some suggestions: roast those fingerlings in duck fat, mango salsa to top tilapia or sea bass, bananas forrester, and maybe add those fresh snow peas in spaghetti alla carbonara?
Just some thoughts…

Hi, Erin!
This is a completely off-topic comment, but I would like to thank you for the absolutely most wonderful chocolate chip cookies I have ever had in my life! You posted the recipe for these “Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies” a while ago in another blog, and I tried them today. Easy and simple to make, they turned out crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside… This will definitely be “my” CC cookie recipe from now on!
Oh, and your blog is really nice, by the way!
Thanks again!
