This Pea Soup is the easiest meal I’ve ever made. After a long day of errand running I was less than thrilled about the prospect of making dinner…OK…that’s a lie. I always like to cook, but I bet you’ve had plenty of moments when you have absolutely zero desire to do anything more than eat a bowl of cereal (It’s a well known fact that CK practically lived on Peanut Butter Puffins until we moved in together). Fight the Lucky Charms urge! This soup is healthy, hearty, and way more satisfying than anything that comes out of a box. Give it a try, I promise you wont be disappointed. Plus, this would be a great kid friendly dish for an upcoming Halloween themed meal. After-all, Pea Soup looks a lot like Witches Brew. Don’t forget to pick up some good, crusty bread. Dipping is the best part.

i love peas, though i’ve never had pea soup.
i assume i would like it, but i’m not sure i would.
I’m a big fan of split pea soup, but lately I’ve felt the recipe was just “meh.” I’m going to try this instead and see how it turns out.
I’ll probably skip the sour cream. Do you think the dish really needs it? If so, I’ll probably veganize it with tofutti… yum!
Hanni,
It does need a little something so definitely add the tofutti (and be generous with the salt & pepper). I also thought about adding some of the more traditional pea soup items the next time I make this. I think diced carrots and ham would be a nice addition (after the soup is blended of course, not before). Ha ha
Enjoy!
I think I’m going to try this today. It’s a good, cold day for some warm pea soup! And I don’t even normally like peas! Q: do you have an immersion blender?
Hi Erin,
No, I actually don’t have an immersion blender. I just used my regular blender. The trick is to let the liquid cool slightly before adding it to the blender and to also work in batches. Let me know how it comes out! Sour cream, salt & pepper really made this soup tasty. I was actually watching Nigella Lawson this week and she makes a similar soup, but adds fresh mozzarella. I bet that’s rich!
