Pumpkin Old Fashioned

According to the calendar we can’t move on from pumpkin to eggnog until after your favorite uncle devours the last piece of Thanksgiving pie around 1:00 AM on Black Friday so until then you better stock pile your cans and gourds. In the meantime I suggest that you take full advantage of the season and shake up a few of these dangerous concoctions. Why eat your holiday dessert when you can drink your calories?

Fair warning: this is one of those cocktails that has a lot of booze hidden by delicious sweet things like maple syrup so unless you want to wow your friends and family with your own rendition of the old Dorothy Parker quote (see below) then go easy on the turkey day cheer.

By the way, if you’re looking for a rustic and/or unique gift idea for your favorite boozer then hook them up with this awesome Mason Jar Cocktail Shaker. I scored mine via a Kickstarter project over the summer and absolutely love it. I have no idea why someone hasn’t thought to do this before but it’s pretty brilliant. PS: Watson cameo alert! Doesn’t he look like such a grumpy old man? That cat definitely needs a drink…or three.
